Iron Dog/need of surgery support

Our family pup, Iron, was hit by a car on the night of April 11, 2019. As we put trash cans out on the street for trash day, Iron was playing with his sister Maiden in our yard. He darted into the street chaseing either a squirrel or an opossum. As we called his name to come back, is when it happened. A car hit him. A speeding car. Accidents happen, I am in complete understanding of that.
Unfortunately, this person didn’t stop, turn around, check up, go and see what they hit, offer to help, nothing. The car was gone in a flash. A hit and run.
Iron is a 7 year old 165 pound Ridgeback Shepherd. His sister, Maiden, stayed in our yard pacing worried as Iron cried and lay there in the street helpless. Lovely neighbors, about 10 of them, came out of their homes to assist.
They all heard the cries or our hurt Iron. They all heard the forceful hit.
In going to 3 different pet emergency centers (the first 2 could not help after each performing a consultation and x rays due to his medical needs). The good news is, we learned that fortunately, he is tough as Iron and internal organs appear to be okay for now. He has cut wounds that need care and cleaning and a concussion.
But his two left legs have multiple breaks requiring a specialized surgery. This is why the first 2 emergency centers could not help.
The second center needed to run their own consult to tell us exactly what the first emergency location told us. Fortunately, they told us immediately that they wouldn’t be able to help after seeing him in person and bypassed fees.
The third center said they could help, did they own tests again, and results surgery. The surgery is pretty extensive because of the multiple legs breaks and on the femor bones.
Prior to surgery, it be a 3 day stabilizing period ranging $1600-$1800 per day before surgery which requires over night stays. The surgery itself will cost roughly $12,000 estimation so far but could increase if further problems develop complicating the surgery. With a six to 8 week (update to 12 week recovery) zero walking. Of course additional fees post surgery for care and medication which I do not know the costs yet.
We are going to push to help our loved family pup, but these vet medical fees are out of our range as we have cut back so much already to make our monthly needs and meet our responsibilities.
Our kids (6 year old and 3 year old) love Iron and it would break their hearts and ours and his sister Maiden if we couldn’t help him.
This hit in run was an extreme unfortunate accident leaving us with one night of already $2700. in consult, X-ray, and IV and pain medications from 2 different emergency centers.
Please help us help Iron. And please remember to slow down when driving. Theres no need to speed. And please stop if you hit “something” for human kind sake.
I will I’ll be updating when further information is given to us about Iron’s state at the vet.
Thank you,
