ITYS Summer Camp Program
Tax deductible
In 1970, Sgt. Ernie Alder had a vision and that was to start a youth program affiliated with the Indiana State Police. 48 years later we are still pushing forward with his idea. The Indiana State Police have allowed their troopers and staff members to volunteer and participate in the camp program as camp directors, counselors and staff.
A not for profit organization, the Indiana Troopers Youth Services, Inc (ITYS) supports the camps with the sole purpose of continuing the ISP Youth Camp Program. ITYS works with other groups like the Lions Club, Optimist Club and the American Legion to be able to put on the best possible camps for the children.
The money that we raise is entirely put back into the camp programs. Most often it is used to sponsor the children that need assistance to cover the cost of these camps. This program has helped thousands of children with their futures, providing unique experiences, multiple learning opportunities, broadening friendships and teaching children what it is like to become a law enforcement officer and the vast range of different careers in the field, sworn and civilian. We offer 3 different kinds of camps (8 total): 3 Career Camps for High School students, 2 Law Camps to Junior HS students and 3 Pioneer Camps offered to at risk youths that is by recommendation only. Each camp offers different and unique experiences, all being directed by State Troopers, allowing the campers to see what a Troopers work is like and what they are like away from work!
We are asking for your support in this endeavor to help us provide the lowest cost possible to each of our campers by lessening the burden on the cost of housing, food and supplies provided to each camper.
