Izzy's Summer Campaign - 2017

Subsequent to a most challenging week, in terms of the medical information that we have received, and are still attempting to digest, regarding the current status of Izzy's failing health, in conjunction with the responsibility of strongly entertaining the likelihood of Izzy undergoing major brain surgery, to hopefully improve his current daunting expected prognosis, I would like to ponder the other side of the spectrum of life. After several columns devoted to my courageously staring death in its proverbial face, I would like to promote a campaign revolving around the gift of life. With the divine assistance of the benevolent God, Izzy will hopefully "reach" his seventh birthday within the next two months. I scribe the word "reach" rather than the more traditionally recited word "celebrate", as Izzy is regretfully incapable of celebration, being unable to discern the day from night, or a one day from the next. To him, life is a continuum of time, where there exist no differentiation between weekdays and weekends or days and nights. Nonetheless, while I strongly maintain that although each and every morning in which I am meritorious to observe Izzy awakening, should be viewed as a distinct gift of life, which has been bestowed upon him by the Almighty God, it is also incumbent upon me to acknowledge the milestone event of his birthday, which represents the completion of yet another year upon this transient earth, albeit one that has been fraught with a plethora of challenging circumstances. 

I am, therefore, privileged to announce, the commencement of Izzy's fourth annual summer campaign, a fundraiser, whose duel objective is to cover the costs of his birthday religious ceremony, as well as to assist in defraying the exorbitant medical costs that Izzy continues to incur, above and beyond what is reimbursable by medical insurance.
