Breanna Williams

Hello family, friends, professors, mentors, counselors, and community leaders, I need your support in helping me embark on my journey to success. As you all know I will be graduating May 11, 2015 from Mount St. Mary’s College in the spring with my Bachelors of Science degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Family Relations. Recently, on December 16th, 2014 I was accepted to an internship program I applied to in New York called, City Year, which is an American Corps program. There I will be proudly spending a whole year serving at-risk youth who are struggling academically in school. My term of service begins in July/August of 2015. My goal is to provide individualized support to at-risk students, while also establishing an overall positive learning environment in the schools throughout America that need help the most. I am dedicated in helping students reach their full potential, while also having a positive effect on the community as a whole. Through this program I will be helping, improve test scores of these children and adolescents who reside in high-poverty communities. Most importantly, I will be decreasing the retention rates of these students, while diligently working overall to increase graduation rates. Unfortunately, the program does not cover my air fair to New York and does not provide housing for me, during my term of service. I am reaching out to you all kindheartedly asking if you could donate toward my trip to New York. Your donations will help cover some of my living expenses during my year of service in New York.
