Sound Wave Handbell Ringers
Donation protected
Sound Wave is an auditioned handbell ensemble from Burnaby School District. We are comprised of ringers from five schools, and are in Grades 7 - 12. We have been ringing for a combination of two years to six years. We play on a beautiful set of Schulmerick Handbells, covering 4 1/2 octaves of the piano. We also have a half octave of Suzuki Chimes that give us a deep low sound!
Eight Sound Wave Handbell ringers have the amazing opportunity to attend the International Handbell Festival happening right here in Vancouver, in July 2016. For information on the festival visit http://www.ihs2016vancouver.ca/youthfestival
Students will join up to 800 ringers playing handbells together at the same time. They will have the unique opportunity to ring with other young students from around the world in a smaller setting, and play with all of the delegates at the conference.
Students will develop their ringing skills, confidence and represent Burnaby School District at Sound Effects Youth Track.
We have been busy fundraising! We did three concerts at Christmas, had a bottle drive and bake sale. We have plans to have a car wash and more concerts. Mrs. Nordstrand our conductor donated time in teaching chimes to receive an honorarium for our ringers. We even are renting out our bells to the VSO! We are trying to be creative, yet aware that fundraising takes time and energy on top of our busy lives.
We are creating this gofundme campaign in order for our friends and families to help support us in our goal to attend a phenomenal conference!
Thank you for considering our request, and for your support of Music in children's lives.
