James Lillo's Cancer Treatment
Donation protected
Hey Everyone,
Anyone that knows James would describe him as a young man with character who is loyal, trustworthy, brilliant, kind hearted, and athletic just to name a few. This January, James was diagnosed with a rare cancer; mediastinal nonseminomatous germ cell carcinoma stage 4. James immediately began treatment at the University of Chicago Medical Center while attending his graduate program at the University of Chicago. His treatment included months of chemotherapy and multiple stays in the hospital throughout the process. His fight thus far has shown his friends and family just how courageous and strong willed a man he has grown to be at the young age of 24. His mother, Liz, has stepped up not only as a loving mother, but a compassionate caretaker throughout this entire process. She has set aside everything to focus 100% of her attention on her dear son. Friends and family have come out in droves to offer love and support unto James.
From Facebook posts asking for crazy hats (jalapeño hats, Viking knit hats, etc.) to hilarious tweets ("I'm an Aries with a touch of Cancer"), James has been showing his friends and family he is still keeping his humor during this difficult time.
After completing 3 months of chemotherapy, James is now back home, and has begun his second phase of treatment at Sloan Kettering in New York City. James now faces an aggressive 4 more months of chemotherapy and stem cell transplant with surgery thereafter to rid his body of this cancer.
Just as love holds no bounds, James and his family are willing to go to the ends of the earth to find him a cure. During this emotionally difficult time we have decided to lighten the financial burden for this incredible young man and his family by starting this page. In whatever way you can, please donate to help this amazing young man fight the biggest battle of his life. No words can describe how grateful we are for your help, and how grateful his mother and family are for your support.
Blessings,
Jenn & Steph
