Ben Folkman and friends are about to hit the road on an epic fundraising tour around Ireland in aid of his five year old son Jarrah. Your support is really needed and appreciated. No amount is too small. Total fundraising target includes funds raised through all fundraising activity. All funds go 100% towards Jarrah's health and educational needs.
Cootehill, Co. Cavan based Ben and six friends will play an epic 32 gigs in 32 counties in 7 days to raise funds for his five year old son Jarrah who has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, CVI blindness and refractory epilepsy, all of which have a major impact on his life.
Despite the difficulties faced by Jarrah this doesn’t stop him from smiling and communicating with his loving parents Elysha and Ben. “He’s our inspiration”explains Ben as he prepares to undertake the ambitious ‘Jammin for Jarrah’ tour of Ireland.
“Jarrah has the whole town rallying together and it looks like he’s now set to inspire the country. That’s why we’re setting out on this mission, to spread awareness, and to also raise much needed funds so Jarrah can get the supports he needs and deserves. He’s growing bigger fast and often has to be carried. He needs special equipment and funds raised will go directly towards that. This initiative is also a celebration of his life and his courageous spirit. He’s just such a beautiful young boy, I’d do anything for him. He deserves a decent life like any of us.”
‘Jammin for Jarrah’ fundraisers have already gathered steam with locals holding a race nights, raffles, a cycle challenge, a quiz night and various gigs in Cava n, Monaghan and further afield. “The support is mind blowing” says Ben, “we even have emigrants overseas doing things to chip in. This is showing the best in people.”
The week of ‘Jammin for Jarrah’ gigs starts off in Co Louth on Sunday, 19th June, and will see Ben and the guys having busked or gigged in every county by the time they arrive back in Cootehill on the following Saturday, June 25th.
The tour starts off with a gig in Dundalk Co. Louthand then proceeds to Newry, Armagh, Derry, Donegal and then down all around the country, covering every county in an epic crusade of music, travel and fundraising. They will play main streets and shopping centres by day and pubs by night. They will also be available to drop in to radio stations to chat about how their initiative is going.
The lads will return home to an upbeat grand finale the following Sunday evening for a mammoth concert in the Errigal Hotel in Cootehill. A raffle and auction will take place there and prizes include items such as a guitar signed by Def Leppard, a current Republic of Ireland signed jersey, a signed Leinster Jersey, and a signed Manchester Utd programme from Roy Keane’s last ever game.
