Jason Pfaff Recovery Fund

As a mom, it grieves me to share with you that my son, musician Jason Pfaff, was involved in a terrible automobile accident in early April. In the crash, Jason's left hand was horribly crushed and mangled. He had emergency surgery on the hand to save it in addition to seven follow-up surgeries. Unfortunately, his ring and pinky finger along with a portion of the lower hand required amputation. Salvaged tendons and tissues from those fingers along with skin grafts were used to reconstruct and stabilize the remaining areas. Pins were also inserted in the wrists to support the bone structure. The hand is currently immobilized in a cast, the fingers unable to bend.
Health wise, Jason's immediate goals are to allow the hand time to heal, to manage the pain and to eventually restore movement and functionality to the hand and remaining fingers to the full extent possible. We are confident this will be accomplished through extensive physical therapy, ongoing treatment and additional surgeries as needed.
What I hope to achieve with this campaign is to provide financial assistance to my son to pay for any medical expenses not covered by insurance in addition to any related supportive needs. This includes extensive rehabilitation and additional living expenses. Recovery is expected to take a year and he will be out of work for an extended period. It will be a long and arduous process. While this injury would be devastating to anyone, it is made even more so for Jason because it directly affects his livelihood and main creative outlet. Jason makes his living composing music and teaching.
As many of you know, Jason is an accomplished musician, composer and producer. Music has always been a major part of his life. He has been a vibrant force in the eclectic music scene of Buffalo, New York for nearly 30 years. I cannot remember a time when he hasn't been creating music or performing; whether playing in a rock band, composing a dazzling solo piece of electronica or collaborating with other artists and musicians for some inventive live performance. His music has always been loaded with creativity and so full of life. This accident will have a profound impact on his ability to play instruments and perform. More so because the injury was to his dominant left hand.
Please give to the campaign if you can and spread the word to other people. Myself and the entire Pfaff family will be extremely grateful. Your generous donations will help my son fight his way through the difficult road ahead. It will help him get back on his feet again and return to a sense of normalcy. He can continue to raise his two sons and make music. There is a musical term "Selah" which means rest.
"There is no music in a rest, but there is the making of music in it."
Thanking you in advance, Sincerely, Janet Pfaff

Jason and his sister Kristen
Jason grew up in a musical family. I was a piano teacher; his father was a drummer and a DJ; his late sister, Kristen Pfaff was an extraordinary bass player who played with alternative rock bands Janitor Joe and Hole. Jason followed his own journey in music. Self taught, he learned to play the piano, drums and synthesizer fluidly. It just came naturally to him. The innate gift fueled a three-decade long career as a solo artist and frequent band member.
