Jay's Motorcycle Accident Recovery
Donation protected
My husband, Jay, was in a terrible motorcycle accident on 6/23/18. A car pulling out from a business driveway t-boned the back end of his bike totalling it and throwing him 30-40ft. He landed on his back HARD and slid quite a ways resulting in his back is breaking in 4 places and spraining all of the muscles attached to his spine down the entire length of it. He also has a couple cracked ribs, a concussion, and lots of really bad bruising and road rash. Insurance claims are in the works but he is out of work for at least 8 months and may not be able to get his position back at work. It is still unclear at this time if he will need surgery. To top it all off, he may never be able to go back to his career of choice - car and motorcycle mechanics. Just a fraction of a second difference in the impact could have lost him his right leg or killed him.
Jay is an amazing man. He has always taken care of me and our vehicles and our home. He is so strong and loving and generous. It kills me to see him laid up in bed. He can hardly get out of the bed or walk without a cane at this time. He lost his job, his only mode of transportation, his dream bike, and his passion (riding) at least for a while. Medical bills are mounting not to mention our monthly bills we are already responsible for. He saw his primary care provider on 6/30/18 who recommended bilateral shoulder MRIs, physical therapy, pain management, a cane to help him walk a little easier than the walker, and a back brace. The cane and back brace aren't covered by medical and had to come out of pocket. He is on several different medications. He was just recently (7/13/18) able to stop taking one which required injecting himself with anti-coagulant in the stomach once a day due to a crush injury to his left leg that doctors were afraid it would throw a clot.
Our day to day life has changed drastically... He struggles to walk to the bathroom or shower by himself. He cannot drive which means asking for rides or paying for Uber to get to appointments if I am at work. Otherwise, I have to get up early and lose out on sleep before work. He is in so much pain he hardly sleeps.
We just got married on 5/17/18 and all of our savings (small as they were) went to our wedding. This trial of our marriage and love for each other is extremely difficult but we are committed, in sickness and in health.
Please, if you can help at all, take the time to donate what you can. It will be greatly appreciated. If you can't donate, if you can just share the link to our GoFundMe... That would help too!!!
