Jeff Parisi of North Wilkesboro, NC was in a serious head-on collision in northern California last year during heavy rains and flooded road conditions. The car was crushed. He was trapped unconscious for over two hours before being airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital. He suffered extreme internal and external damage.

His spleen ruptured, several broken ribs lacerated his liver and punctured a lung, his kidneys shut down and an artery in his left leg was torn. He was given 17 pints of blood by the time he arrived at the hospital and his left leg was nearly destroyed. He had open fractures of the femur with a dislocated knee, a shattered kneecap and substantial ligament damage. Both arms had multiple fractures, his left elbow was crushed, and he had a cervical fracture. Sections of dead muscle and ligament had to be surgically removed in his left arm and leg. It was an absolute miracle he survived.

Jeff was hospitalized for six weeks and spent another three months in a rehabilitation facility.  He had fourteen surgeries last year, but further repair work on his leg had to be delayed until his arms were able to bear weight.  By the grace of God, Jeff’s medical expenses were covered to a great degree by the state of California and there was a generous and much appreciated outpouring of donations and support from friends and family.  Even with this help, though, Jeff’s family in North Carolina had to drain their savings and go into a great deal of debt for medical and travel expenses and living arrangements in California.  Jeff’s mom was there for seven months caring for him when he was released from long-term care.

His arms can finally bear his weight and further leg surgery can be scheduled. The situation is critical.  The leg is very unstable and extremely painful, and he is in danger of losing it if repair work isn't started soon.   Jeff's family had to bring him back to North Carolina a few months ago because they weren’t able to pay for his housing anymore, but since his only medical coverage for the accident is in California, he has to return there. His surgeon doesn't know how many operations will be necessary to repair his leg, but said to plan for at least six months of surgeries and rehabilitation.

Our goal is to raise $30,000 to help with excess medical costs, travel expenses and living arrangements.  His mother will be returning with him to care for him through this process.  The Friends of Pelzer non-profit will oversee the fund and handle disbursements.

Can you please help Jeff and his family?  All donations are greatly appreciated, regardless of the size.
And your loving thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated, as well.

You will be emailed a receipt for your tax-deductible contribution. Thank you for your generosity!

Many Blessings...
