The Back Story
Tragedy strikes when you least expect it. For my dear friend Jenny Lauritsen, a wife and mother, this is being diagnosed with cancer at the age of 37.
For the last few months, she had been dealing with back pain. An MRI revealed a tumor in her spine had fractured a vertebrae. The doctors in Pierre sent her immediately to Avera McKennan in Sioux Falls. After many tests and scans, it was determined that she has stage 4 breast cancer.
Jenny started radiation on her back last week to reduce the size of the tumor. She will soon begin additional cancer treatments and will face a long road to recovery. But if you know her, she’s strong and will get through this with the help of God. The Lauritsen’s are committed to winning Jenny’s battle against cancer, and her family will be at her side every step of the way.
About the Family
Jen and her husband Mike Lauritsen have two small children and live in Pierre, SD. They have a daughter named Keena who is a sassy three year old and a daughter named Elsie who is a cute one year old.
Jenny and Mike’s whole world revolves around these two kids. They are dedicated parents who want the best for their children and more importantly want to see them grow up and do great things in the world.
How You can Help
Any prayers and kind words are greatly appreciated. But as we all know, treating cancer is expensive both financially and emotionally. Soon there will be significant medical bills to pay. There will also be significant expense to travel over 200 miles away from home for treatment.
