I am helping spread the word about this man, Jesse B. Jenson - my American Hero. From as early on as 14 years of age, Jesse was dedicated to protecting and serving his country and community.
I am hoping to raise funds to help his family pay for the funeral services Jesse deserves.
Jesse was killed on January 18th, 2019.
Here are some facts about Jesse that his family and friends would like you to know.
Jesse celebrated his 41st birthday a little more than a week prior to his death.
At the time of his death, Jesse worked as a Deputy Sheriff with the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, in Adams County, Colorado.
During his High School years Jesse was a Patrolman/Lieutenant at Arapahoe Rescue Patrol, Inc., in Littleton, Colorado (June 1993 – January 1997)
Jesse had an extensive military background, serving in multiple branches of the military over the course of his career.
Jesse’s Military Service started a few days after he graduated High School, when he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in January 1997.
During his time with the United States Marine Corps, Jesse rose to the level of Sergeant (E-5). Jesse served over 4 years in the United States Marine Corps, including a stint with a Marine Detachment on the USS George Washington (CVN-73) out of Norfolk, Virginia. Jesse was honorably discharged in March 2001.
During his service with the United States Marine Corps, Jesse earned the following awards, medals and accommodations; Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy “E” Ribbon, Certificate of Commendation, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Rifle Expert Badge 4th Award, Pistol Sharpshooter Badge.
From September 2001 through February 2002, Jesse attended the Colorado Sheriff’s Training Institute.
After graduating from the Colorado Sheriff’s Training Institute, Jesse worked as a police officer with the following agencies; Elbert County Sheriff’s Office, Denver Police Department, Lafayette Police Department, and the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
In March 2002, Jesse enlisted in the Army National Guard, where he served until February 2005.
From July 2008 – March 2010, Jesse was an International Police Adviser (IPA) at DynCorp International FZ LLC, in Baghdad, Iraq, where he helped train the Iraq Police Forces.
Jesse re-enlisted as a Sergeant in the Army National Guard in March 2012, where he was active until March 2016 with the B-157th Infantry Unit.
From May 2013 – June 2016, Jesse worked as a Colorado P.O.S.T. Certified Deputy County Coroner/ Certified Medicolegal Death Investigator with the Adams County Government, in Adams County, Colorado.
On March 8th, 2016 Jesse transferred from the Army National Guard to the Air National Guard in Greeley, Colorado, where he was a Technical Sergeant (E-6) until the time of his death. Jesse spent time with his Air National Guard unit just two weeks prior to his death.
During his time with the Air National Guard, Jesse earned the following awards, medals and accommodations; National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, War on Terrorism Service Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Air Force Marksmanship Award Ribbon, Colorado National Guard Long Service Medal, Colorado National Guard Adjutant General Outstanding Unit Citation, Colorado National Guard State Emergency Service Ribbon.
During the last few years of his life, as a Military Marksman, Jesse competed in Armed Forces Marksmanship Competitions, where he earned several medals.
Anyone who knew Jesse for more than a few hours, realized he was a fun-loving guy with an incredible sense of humor.
Jesse enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing with his dogs and riding his Harley Davidson.
This is my American Hero...
