Help Jess Fight Endometriosis
Donation protected
Pictured are Jess and I with a few fellow endowarriers at the recent endoactive conference in Sydney. We have endometriosis, a disease where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (endometrium) grows on other organs in the body. It causes various symptoms including, but not limited to, debilatating pain, infertility, bowel symptoms and bladder symptoms.
Endometriosis can also cause internal scarring which can lead to adehesions forming, sticking pelvic organs together. In Jess's case this has gone so far that her pelvis is now 'frozen', with her oragans unable to move freely. The only treatment option for this is surgery. There is no other way to relieve the daily pain that Jess is experiencing. This will be Jess's eighth laparoscopy.
Unfortunately the huge amount of damage in Jess's pelvis means that no surgeon will take her on as a public patient, as we live in Canberra she will also have to travel to Sydney. On top of travel and surgery costs she must also have a scan every fortnight until surgery to track what is going on. Each scan will be approximately $500 and is not covered by medicare.
Like so many other endowarriers Jess has been unable to work due to pain for a long time. She would never ask anybody to help her pay for these huge medical costs, but I don't think she should have to, which is why I have set up this page. Please consider donating even a little so that Jess can stop living a life in pain.
