First and foremost, this is an urgent campaign for Jessica Carr, stage four Lymphoma cancer fighter and mother of four. What the attached article does not reveal, is that Jessica is currently making a fraction of the money she once made as a family therapist due to her rapidly declining health, while the cost of living and raising children has not decreased at all. In addition to Jessica's son Laurence, she has three other children, all of which are still living at home: Virginia, Valencia and Robert.

Jessica is, without a doubt, the strongest, most private person I have ever met. When I discovered that she had cancer, I could count on my fingers the number of people that knew...the fact that I was one of those people was merely an accident. She kept the information & status of her health to herself for as long as possible because she did not want anyone to feel sorry for her, treat her any differently or cause her children to worry needlessly. To say that Jessica Carr is spiritually and mentally strong would be an understatement of biblical proportions.

Jessica is even more prideful than she is private. She would rather cut her tongue out than ask anyone for anything. When people do lend a helping hand Jessica is genuinely gracious and grateful, but it's almost as if she feels as though she doesn't quite understand why people are helping her when there are so many others that are far more needy than she. I am not creating this Go Fund Me page with her permission or her blessing. I am doing it because I love her and I can't stand to see her suffering continue to increase unnecissarily due to financial strain.

Two of the very best things about Jessica are her sense of humor and her beautiful smile. Even on the days when she takes her treatment and feels as though she won't make it another 24 hours, she continues to smile and find something to make her laugh. Lawrence Davis Jones, her only grandchild, is usually that something. At only two years old, Davis doesn't understand that his time with her is limited or that she is fighting the battle of her life; so he behaves the same way every time he's with Jessica...like a precious, wild two year old. The innocent love of that sweet baby boy makes her smile and laugh the most.

Cancer is not a contender in the SEC and wears no colors to show it's loyalty. So no matter who you root for on Saturdays in the fall, please take a minute to put those fierce loyalties aside and help a woman, mother and fighter continue her life with a little less stress of a financial burden.
