The Jim Ridley Family Fund
Donation protected
Nashville Scene Editor Jim Ridley is known across the city for — among so many other things — his skill as a writer, the passion he pours into everything he does and the enormous amount of love and empathy he shares with those lucky enough to cross his path.
In short, Jim is known for his huge heart. But that heart failed him in late March, when he collapsed at the Scene's offices in the Gulch after suffering a cardiac event. On April 8, he passed away, surrounded by family and loved ones.
So many of Jim’s friends and acquaintances have asked how they can help that it has at times been overwhelming. Here’s a simple way: We — his SouthComm co-workers, friends and admirers — have started this campaign to cover his medical and funeral expenses and to support his family in their time of need. All of the funds raised will to go Jim's wife, Alicia, his daughter, Kat, and his son, Jamie.
Over the years, Jim has given so much to so many in the city he loves so dearly. Please consider giving back to the family of one of the most brilliant, sweet and beloved people in the city of Nashville.
UPDATE: There has been such a generous outpouring of support by the community that we've increased the goal to $75,000. We have far surpassed our original goal of $25,000 and have raised enough to cover Jim's medical and funeral expenses, but we will continue to accept donations to support his family.
