Harumi Hospital Fund
Donation protected
Hello, this is the friends and family of Adrienne, also known online as PrincessHarumi (https://twitter.com/princessharumi_). Her mother has relayed her conditions to us, her friends, and asked for help.
For anyone who doesn’t know, Harumi has Sickle Cell disease. For the past couple of weeks, she’s been getting treatment due to some flare ups and some bleeding due to her Ulcerative Colitis. She went to the hospital for treatment and a blood transfusion but it wasn’t enough.
Her hemoglobin level went down and the doctors decide to do another transfusion. Everything was ready, but suddenly her temperature was 102.4F they decide to do the transfusion at Intensive Care Unit and they found she had developed pneumonia that affected her lungs.
She has not spoken since the first night at the ICU several weeks ago. She has lost consciousness and remained unresponsive now for the past two weeks. She has not been speaking and is breathing using a breathing machine. The treatment is a slow process to help her to breath on her own and to become responsive.
It was then decided to transfer her to another hospital with more specialized care and long term treatment however the hospital is more than 50 miles from her home. Her family cannot travel to see her every day as much as they would like to. The cost of this specialized treatment will be more than what her family can afford.
To those that took the time to read this, thank you. For anyone not able to donate, sharing this is very much appreciated. For anyone with questions, please send them our way, and we will answer what we can.
