Mission Trip to Japan 2019- John and Mel

Japan is a beautiful country that my husband and I have had the privilege to visit. John was actually born in Yokosuka, Japan! Japan has become very special to the both of us.
Two years ago we went on a mission trip and helped out several churches, built relationships with extraordinary people, and we both experienced a deep love for the people of Japan. We have since discovered our passion and mission is to reach the people of Japan in the following ways:
1. We feel called to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people of Japan.
Statistically in Japan, out of 127 million people, only 2% of the Japanese population identify themselves as Christian. We are compelled to see the people of Japan find genuine community in the body of Christ and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
2. We desire to use the gifts God has given us to share God's love.
I will be going to New Hope Sapporo to teach workshops on voice, worship and will also be doing a concert for the community. New Hope Sapporo has a thriving Gospel choir and I will have the privilege of teaching a vocal workshop. New Hope Sapporo uses the gospel choir to reach their community. This year I will also be teaching a children's choir!
3. John and I will also be visiting several other New Hope churches in Japan where we will be teaching workshops on worship, leadership, and leading worship in Japanese.
4. We will be organizing a camp designed for young leaders to learn about the ministry and how to serve their local church communities. This camp is specifically designed for young adults who have a desire to serve in their local church. Japan's churches are in need of new leaders, since most of the current Pastors are the first generation of believers. New leaders are needing to be trained and discipled, to help their Pastors continue the ministry of the gospel. This camp will provide hands on instruction on how to serve their church, with their gifts and talents.
Please pray for John and I, and be a part of our Christian outreach by praying that God's will be done with our time there. For our safety both traveling to and from our destinations; and continued favor from the Lord in our efforts to nurture and expand our current relationships with the Japanese people.
