Joining FEMA To Help Others

Donation protected
I've been living in Puerto Rico for the past 4 years and recently, my community was devastated by two successive hurricanes (Irma, and Maria).

Despite the poor conditions here on the island, my community is strong and our basic needs right now are covered. we have food, water, batteries, gas, and are safe.

However, because my income here was based in tourism and that industry won't exist again for a while, I'm going to be leaving Puerto Rico for some time to work a job with FEMA.
I'll be leaving PR in two weeks to go to Dallas for training, and then will be sent to a FEMA disaster site, either Florida, Texas, or (hopefully!) back to PR. One of the stipulations of the job is that I be able to maintain myself (hotel, car rental, food) in the field for the first month before I get reimbursed for those expenses. The old catch 22 of needing money to make money. I need $4000-$5000 to cover me, estimating around $150 of expenses a day. There are various ways to help me out with raising these needed funds:

My biggest hope is that FEMA places me back in PR so that I can be actively involved in helping out here, and at the same time using the money I'm earning to reinvest right back here in PR too! It would be a double win!!!

Gratitude is paramount in my thoughts these days. Grateful to be alive and unharmed, safe with the basic supplies covered, and a plan of attack for the next bit of time. Grateful for the outpouring of love and support from my family and friends around the world. And so grateful in advance for any assistance you can provide to those of us in need here in Puerto Rico, be it to me, one of my community causes, or a charitable organization.
