On March 17, 2017 Jose Cruz arrived at La Placita on Morgantown Road. He was there to pick up his son.
Unbeknownst to him, La Placita had an armed robbery taking place. Two armed men had taken control of the store.
Upon entering the building, Jose saw that the store was being robbed and confronted the first suspect. It was then that the second suspect came up and shot him from behind before fleeing.
Police were on the scene within minutes. He was taken to The Medical Center, where sadly, Jose lost his fight.
His family now mourns the loss of their father, brother, and son.
I am asking you to please donate what you can to help this family get back on their feet. If you cannot give monetarily, then please send his family prayers.
Thank you so much!! God bless, Dawn King

Both men ran from the store, got into a dark-colored sedan, and left. Police believe the sedan was driven by a third Hispanic man. Cruz ultimately died from his injuries.
Two of the suspects are described as Hispanic males; one wearing a gray or green hooded sweatshirt and a dark cap. The second man is described as Hispanic wearing a camouflage jacket and blue jeans.
