This is a support fund for the wife and two sons of Jose Ricardo Sahagun who was murdered on 4/29/2017. Any help is appreciated so we will not be setting a stretch goal.
About Ricardo:
My brother, Jose Ricardo Sahagun Hernandez was the life the bullet claimed in La Mirada on Saturday afternoon.
He was no ordinary man. Ricardo was a man who persevered in life despite facing some social and academic challenges growing up. When he was a junior at Compton high, he was told by his English teacher that in the unlikely event he'd be accepted into a four year university, chances were that he would fail anyway.
With valor and faith in himself, he went on to earn a bachelors degree and teaching credentials from Cal State Dominguez Hills. He went back to Compton as a teacher and taught second grade the first few years of his career. Later, he changed career paths and dedicated his life to serving the community through L.A. County's Social Services Department.
The sixth sibling from a family of ten, Ricardo was a responsible, honest, giving and an all around good-to-the-bone person. Growing up, he was jokingly known amongst his six brothers and myself as the "Bank of Ricardo." Regardless of the amount of money he made, he was the go-to-money-man and was always willing to lend a hand. If you wanted a blatant, honest opinion, he would lay it out with no filter. If you needed motivation, thinking of him would get you moving. Through sweat and tears he earned all the goodness that surrounded him. But best of all, he was hilarious. Ricardo had the capacity to make you laugh till your ribs hurt.
He married Agueda, a beautiful, independent, intelligent and driven woman. Together, Ricardo and Agueda were raising two dynamic fun loving boys (4 and 6 yrs old) with the social intelligence and bilingual language skills that well surpass many adults.
One bullet=So many lives affected.
Please pray for his wife Agueda and our nephews. She is a formidable woman. But she will need strength, courage and faith to raise her boys.
I truly I believe that my beautiful nephews posses the light, love and strength my brother Ricardo brought into this world....not even a bullet will take that away from them.
