"My helmet and spine protector saved my life"
Joshua is a hard-working, caring and compassionate soul. He is 21 years young and was in a motorcycle accident on June 4th at 7pm. He was going northbound on Horsetooth reservoir road in Fort Collins, CO. He was traveling around 65mph when he hit gravel in the road through a left-hand turn and his rear tire locked. He slid on his bike for 120 feet going into a ditch until hitting a bolder that made him high-side off of his motorcycle, making him flip and slide an additional 80 feet. There was a nearby cyclist that saw him crash and ran to the scene. He was found conscious screaming in pain. Cars passing by stopped to help and a police officer drove by and called EMS.
EMS arrived 30 minutes later and started analyzing Joshua's injuries. They believed his right foot, right scapula, and shoulder was broken. with possible neck injury and concussion. He was wearing a helmet, gloves and a spine protector that saved his life. The EMS concluded, "if you did not have your gear on you could have been paralyzed as the spine protector and helmet broke on impact". He was taken to UCHealth Emergency Care - Poudre Valley Hospital. He was rushed to an emergency room and given CT scans of his abdomen, pelvis, and chest with and without contrast. Also, a CT of his Brain, spine, and 3
x-rays of his foot.
His bike is totaled and unsalvagable but God was watching over him. Miraculously he got away with his life and suffers from cervicalgia of his neck, road rash, contusions of his back and the wall of thorax, also swollen metatarsals in his right food. He is currently recovering well but cannot work currently with his injuries.
Joshua always puts others before himself and he does so much for his family, friends, and community. He studies Horticulture Business and Botony and his life goal is to reduce the starvation rate in the world. Joshua is asking for any donations to help him cover the medical expenses of the ER visit and follow up appointments. When Joshua is fully recovered he wants to give back to his community by working with the Colorado Department of Transportation. Advocating safe driving and the dangers of unknown road conditions.
Thank you to all the amazing men and woman in the UChealth center that helped Joshua. Thank you to all his friends, family and those who stopped to help. He is forever grateful and thankful to everyone that helped and stands by him. God bless you all.
