Julie Moody's Emergency Surgery
Donation protected
My name is Rachel Moody and my mom is Julie Moody. We're from Saco, Maine and our family runs a local nursery. If you know us, you probably know about Julie's long struggles with various health obstacles and her recent (and ongoing) maxillofacial surgeries.
SO for starters I'm sure many of you are wondering why I never made a page for Julie earlier and that is because 1) my moms issues with health began far before gofundme did and I felt it was far past fashionably late to make one and 2) I asked my mom if I should make one and she said I don't want to do that and so we agreed that I wasn't a bad daughter for not making one and that we've made it this far and we might as well make the home stretch.
HOWEVER, recently a lot more issues have come up, and they as well as the bills are starting to pile up. My mom has had two major surgeries on her jaws since the start of 2016, and she has to have emergency surgery as soon as possible, but is currently waiting on operating room availability. All summer we've been struggling to find the funds to afford her treatments which are already $6,000 a piece, in addition to her healing from her surgeries, and today we found out that the world has given us another nerve wracking surgery.
I will say boldly that my mom has been incredibly strong through all of this. She has put up with a lot, and managed to take care of her entire family at home, myself away at school. But now it is my job to do more than what I can on my own to take care of her.
She has been incredibly lucky to have the doctors and surgeons she has had at Mass General Hospital. While it does add up traveling back and forth, their expertise has helped my mom heal well and quick and with attentive care incase anything goes awry.
I also have been lucky enough to have been adopted by her and my father and be able to attend two prestigious universities, which is another abrasive force of distress on our wallets. I'm extremely thankful for my scholarships but mostly for my parents for ensuring I get the best education possible, however, transferring has made it harder for me to stay on track academically and thus harder for me to work as many hours I would like to in addition to school.
I'm really thankful already that you at least got this far in reading our little story, there's many more details I could get into but the gist is that I am asking you for help giving back to my mother the life that she has given me. We have really appreciated and been incredibly thankful all the thoughts and prayers recently and throughout the years, and we understand that finances are not an issue that only we struggle with, but I would sincerely like to ask that you consider helping out my mom in this sudden and upsetting moment in our lives. She is the best person I've ever known and someone I strive to be as strong as.
Thank you so much for reading this and thinking of us. If you can make a donation we would be forever greatful and you will always have a special place in our hearts.
