Junior National Ski Championships 2019
Donation protected
This past Sunday (2/24) I qualified for the 2019 Cross Country Junior National Championships as part of the New England team. I started nordic skiing when I was five with Onion River Nordic and skied casually until 7th grade when I decided that swimming was the sport for me. Four years later, nordic came back into my life and I competed in my first ever high school race at the age of 17. In June of 2018, I joined Mansfield Nordic, a nordic ski training club based out of Jericho, VT, and began to train six days a week (with a two hour round trip commute) with the junior team. In the fall, I decided to complete my senior year of high school with 50% online coursework, allowing me the schedule flexibility to train at the level that I desired. This December marked the first time that I skied in a qualifying race for Junior National's. Four qualifying race weekends and countless hours of training later, I was named as the last woman in my age group to the team. On March 7th of 2019, I'll depart for Anchorage, Alaska where I'll compete in several races at the historic Kincaid Park venue. My career in cross country skiing thus far is an odd and stilted one but the passion and dedication that I have for this sport are undeniable. While I am extremely grateful and excited about this opportunity, the trip is not without significant financial burdens. By donating to this GoFundMe you will be contributing to the airfare, lodging, wax support, and other travel expenses that go along with this incredible adventure to Alaska. More importantly, a contribution to this fund provides me with a chance to achieve one of my biggest goals and experience a once in a lifetime event. Any amount helps!
