Hi my name is Rae’Mah Henderson.

I was born March 28,2000. I wanted to include my birthday in my message to confront my age at the beginning instead of hiding it in hopes no one would find out.

So yes, your calculations are correct. I am seventeen years old and I’m opening my own business. I’ve seen the odds that are against me, but are they worth so much that I stop and give up?

I’m a person that prefers to hear the “bad” news before the “good” news when faced with the choice so I will assume readers have the same preference. So let’s begin! I do not have the funds nor do I have a college degree. I have the experience and I have the drive.

I have experience in running a business, allotting loan funds, point of sale systems, training, mobilizing a business, advertisement, and conversing in the corporate world which has given me the opportunity to work directly with the president of the current franchise I work with. I gained this experience from working with my mother at our family business and being trained in business since the age of 5. For the last 5 years I have had a serious work commitment with her company, but she began my training began much earlier.

I found myself as a full time worker and a homeschooler, managing school   work for the last two years of my high school years. I had finally pushed myself to a point where I was offered to graduate high school as a junior, and that was an opportunity I took.

So here I am, a highschool graduate, not knowing if college was the place for me. I loved the business world and all I wanted to pursue was entreprenuership. But I was hit with the overwhelming revelation that just living life and eating good every now and then had sent my mother to the emergency room. We’ve never really had health insurance just because it was too high especially with all the responsibilities my mother had at the store. They diagnosed my mother with breast cancer. And it was so shocking that I couldn’t even move because you hear stories of all the amazing women cancer has took, and I could not lose my mother--that could not happen! So naturally both of us are stubborn, and in that stubbornness we would not allow the thought to enter into our minds that cancer could win this battle. So we set out to find fruits, vegetables, special diets, and anything we had researched to cure it!

We changed our eating habits and followed the ways of renown herbal doctors. Months passed by and my mother went to an appointment and they said that it was nothing there! No radiation or chemotherapy, just food! I’m still amazed to this day!  So you can imagine why I fell head over heels for holistic foods and the research behind it. I was  in love I found myself contemplating being a natural medicine physician, where the doctor prescribes holistic diets and remedies.  

As I mentioned before we had changed our lifestyles to follow these practices, but man was it hard! I always found myself being too lazy to cook and too tired to pre-make all my meals. To tell you the truth I was almost done with the whole thing because although I loved the diet it simply just took too much of my energy and time. I slowly found myself falling back into the same old routine. Eating whatever thing that was quick and feasible. I kept wishing for a better way or easier way because the illnesses I myself was able to escape were trying to find their way back to me. The concept was really developed from wanting this restaurant to exist for myself! A self serve salad bar along with organic smoothies, coffee, and teas!

Thus here we are, Yobi Salads Express was born. Yobi Salads Express is a walk in and and walk out food business that offers a takeout salad bar. Customers will find themselves in the salad bar aisle to make their own to-go salad at their delight. Yobi Salads Express will give “fast food” a new definition seeing as it offers nutrition and delectability all within a timely manner.

Why will it survive? Well why are most fast food restaurants successful? Convenience--Being one factor, because life is complex enough so accessibility and simplicity when referring to food makes “said” restaurant the best choice.

Secondly, we want our products to be inexpensive so all our salad prices will be based on the weight of it. The larger the salad the larger the price. And last but no least we strive to be fast which is another attribute as to why fast food restaurants are o successful.

Renown brands that Yobi Salads Express can partner with to carry different kinds of bottled kombucha, coffee, smoothies, and teas. Giving customers on-hand, purchase ready drinks to go separately or along with a customer custom-made Yobi Salad. And best of all we will be located in the Magic City of Birmingham.  I mainly would like to start by catering my Salads for family events, company lunch & the corporate culture is so large, we want to be able to accommodate so Yobi Salads Express can be a place for everyone. Simply affordable and accessible.

Build it to be a pioneer as the first in the health food food chain industry. Set the tone. A new and fresh perspective on how health and fast food can combine and coexist.

I have all of the components to working this business in helping and serving my community. I am very young but very passionate about healthy eating and I feel that I could motivate many to want to seek out healthy menus -to be live a healthier life.

And also, I could be a positive example to my younger peers, to also try to do as I am by starting their own business--try to do positive things to better our lives and reach for our dreams as early as possible.

I humbly am asking for help! I have a great chance to start something that would not just be a blessing to me but so many others.
