Justice 4 Janet
Donation protected
As this GoFundMe.com campaign comes to an end, we would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to everyone for your kindness and generosity in supporting the effort to honor our friend Janet.
We raised $7,550.00 out of our initial goal of $10,000.00 which will be divided and donated to the two organizations chosen earlier. The two organizations are the Palmer Domestic Violence Task Force, Inc. and Stop Abuse Today. The funds will be transferred to a bank account established outside of gofundme and cashiers checks from that bank will be provided to these organizations by us, the organizers of this campaign. 100% of the funds raised will be donated and this campaign will be closed.
The Palmer Domestic Violence Task Force, Inc. is a nonprofit, tax exempt agency registered with the state. They can be found on Facebook by the same name. President and coordinator, Tammy Koske can be reached at [email redacted] or (413) [phone redacted] if anyone would like more information.
Stop Abuse Today is a 503c nonprofit organization registered with both federal and state governments. Their purpose is to counsel and support abuse victims, as well as provide the public with awareness and education related to abuse prevention. The group strives to develop partnerships with school systems, community centers, senior centers, religious centers, and police departments, and aim to develop relationships with our municipal, governmental and religious leaders. The group is reliant on donations in order to operate since they do not receive direct funding from municipal or government agencies. Their Mission Statement is to serve the citizens of Brimfield, Brookfield, East Brookfield, Holland, North Brookfield, Southbridge, Sturbridge, Wales and beyond with Outreach, Awareness, Education, and Support, for anyone who has ever been affected by abuse. Recently, Stop Abuse Today has focused their efforts on Domestic Violence, Elderly Abuse, Bullying and Healthy Relationships, including Teen Dating Violence. Faith Ward is the coordinator and can be reached at (860) [phone redacted], or email [email redacted]. The website is www.stopabusetoday.org.
These two local organizations were chosen after much research because we felt that they will do the most good for the most women. Our goal was to raise awareness and provide funds that will help end violence against other women and children in abusive relationships. You entrusted your hard-earned money to this campaign and now it is time to donate the funds so your generosity will make a difference in someone's life!
Please remember how Janet embraced life. She made everyone whose life she touched feel they were important and special to her. Janet was considerate, caring, gentle and kind to everyone she met. . . WE should all take a lesson from her!
In loving memory of our friend Janet, she will always be in our hearts!
Love to all,
Wendy Anderson, Natalie Haarala, and Gracellen Riel
Janet Macdonald Kastberg, 60, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, godmother, sister, aunt, and friend, was taken from us tragically—criminally—on June 29, at her home in Holland, Massachusetts.
Janet's close friends have set up this GoFundMe page to honor her and to help ensure that no other woman in Massachusetts has to suffer as Janet did.
Janet was deeply loyal to her family, friends, and community. She drew strength from her Christian faith, which was her pillar during troubled times.
Janet grew up in the Walker Pond neighborhood of Sturbridge, Massachusetts. She graduated from Tantasqua High School in 1976, and she was a lifelong resident of the Sturbridge and Holland area, with deep ties to the community. She was the office manager at Café of Life Family Chiropractic in Sturbridge.
Janet was thoughtful in everything she did, whether it was taking her grandsons to baseball games, sewing Halloween costumes, baking apple pies and Christmas cookies, or rescuing and caring for dogs of all shapes and sizes. She had a zest for life, always ready with a witty comeback and quick to let you know you were important to her.
All of the proceeds from this page will be donated locally to help victims of domestic violence and abuse.
We have determined that one of the agencies to benefit from this campaign will be the Palmer Domestic Violence Task Force, Inc. Continue to read updates for more information on the organizations selected.
Thank you for any and all consideration of making a donation!
