Funding for Jaime Manuel

I’m Samantha Calapati, Jaime Manuel’s niece. I’m from California, U.S.A. I’ve created this GoFundMe to help honor my uncle who was a victim of a car crash; as well as helping his wife & daughter get back on their feet after this tragic loss.

This GoFundMe is for friends, families and strangers who would like to donate to help our family in this traumatic and unexpected event. We are especially reaching out to those who have had families and friends taken away from them because of negligent driving and irresponsible actions of another party. This is a wrongful death and we know this isn't the first case of death due to a negligent driver. But just like any other death, the pain is there. We are extending his story to anyone who can help us raise money to cover needed expenses.

On August 10, 2018, Jim (Jaime) was tragically killed by a pickup-truck during a traffic stop along Interstate 80 in Fairfield, California. CHP Officer, Kirk Griess, was also involved in this accident.

A father, a husband, an uncle, a brother and a friend. He was loved by many and remembered as a thoughtful, caring and admirable human being.  

Ten years ago, Jim came to the US to pursue his American dream.. leaving his job, his wife and his daughter in the Philippines. With his desire to give his family a better life, Jim endured the struggle of people finding their livelihood in the United States with limited resources. He made the ends meet by working as a caregiver – a far-fetched job from his job in the Philippines as an Airline Manager. He worked very hard to earn his livelihood pouring out his blood and soul just to see his daughter finish college in the Philippines leaving very little for himself to survive while being away from his family.  

This unexpected and tragic accident has remitted Jim's dream and goal to give his family a better life. With Jim being his family's main source of income, we kindly ask for your donations, big or small, to help with expenses of:

-The everyday needs of his family

-Bills, utilities, rents

-Loss of expected income

-Funeral expenses

-Medical expenses

-Other miscellaneous expenses 

No amount of money will ever make up for this tragic and heartbreaking loss. But through this GoFundMe, we aim to lift even the slightest weight off the family's shoulders.
