Help for our beloved Kuro the Poodle:
Dear FB friends and family,
August 2nd, in the evening a terrible tragedy happened to our sweet, loyal, caring Kuro.
On a routine walk, our boy was viciously attacked by a pack of dogs belonging to a homeless man in the area, 3 of them were highly aggressive pitbulls who went to attack my dog when they spotted him across a street corner. My friend, who was taking him through the neighborhood when I was at work, was met by these 3 stray pitbulls, and 2 additional dogs of mixed breed. Though my friend picked Kuro off the ground when he saw them charging, the dogs pulled my friend down, falling to the ground with Kuro. Thank God my friend tried to shield Kuro with his body, or else I don’t even think I would be writing this today.
Fortunately, with the efforts of my friend and several other passersby in the SH community, they helped take the dogs off Kuro and my friend long enough for him to leave to safety with Kuro.
Kuro has somehow survived and by Gods grace, my friend is not badly hurt, but Kuro is. Kuro has deep pieces of flesh missing from his head, neck, deep tissue damage on his hind legs, and his tail is deeply severed. He has bruising on his lungs, and deep bite wounds covering most of his body. He was rushed to the ER last night and is undergoing surgery tonight. They tell us Kuros recovery will be difficult, given the significant and severe wounds.
Friends & family - working in the mental health field, I have learned the importance of asking for help in times of need. This is one of them. The costs are extensive not just for surgery, but the recovery that will come after. PLEASE repost/share and *PLEASE* donate whatever you can within your means. This is the time I need you guys. For Kuro. Not me. Kuro is also a therapy dog & has provided comfort for many in the community that have walked in and out of the ZOE Yoga House.
His full recovery, naturally, is our ultimate goal and we so thank all of you for your consideration. Regrettably, in excess of $4,000 of medical bills have already been incurred, just in preliminary charges. His aftercare will be ongoing seeing the vet to make sure his wounds don’t become necrotic. This requires reflushing his wounds and perhaps more surgery, if his wounds don’t heal. And incidentally, should any proceeds be leftover, they will be donated to a non-profit dog rehabilitative organization. Others who might suffer what we did last night hopefully then, will have one less thing to worry about during a tragedy.
With deep gratitude we ask for help,
