Help Us Surprise William With A Car
William has no reliable transportation of his own, but he entered the ‘Hands On My Hyundai Contest’ and endured a grueling 117 hour long competition to win a brand new car for his mom. William surprised his mom, by entering the contest in her honor, and I would love to be able to surprise William with money to acquire his very own reliable transportation. Let me tell you all about my amazing friend William...you have to hear his story!
Hi my name is Lezly Brown and it’s my absolute pleasure to tell you a little bit about one of my very best friends, William Holmes V. William and I have known each other for about 12 years and I’ve learned so much from him over time. William’s heart is more precious than gold as he would give anyone in need his very last dollar. His mother, Margaret Holmes, raised him to think of others before himself and this preparation has exceeded all expectations time and time again. William gives expecting nothing in return and illustrates what it truly means to be self-less.
Just this past week William participated in the 'Hands-On My Hyundai Contest' in hopes of winning a brand new 2016 Hyundai Tucson for his mom. William remained in contact with the car (even while he slept) from 3:00pm on Tuesday, January 26th to 12:00pm on Sunday, January 31st, only taking 15 minute breaks every 3 hours. No electronics were allowed during the 117 hour competition. On Sunday when the competition came to a close, out of the 5 remaining contestants, William picked the right key to start the vehicle. That alone was astonishing but what happened next was even more spectacular...William handed the keys over to his mom! Words cannot express the utter joy and admiration that I feel for what William did. His own personal car (a 2001 Lincoln Towncar with over 300,000 miles on it) has been out of commission for almost 2 months now. Rather than winning the car for himself, William gave the car to his mom, as a tribute to all that she has done for him, his family and the community (me included). The apple truly does not fall far from the tree…Mrs. Holmes gives expecting nothing and that praiseworthy quality has been passed down to William.
I have watched William contribute to the welfare of others through both large and small gestures. William is the first one to stop and help strangers who are experiencing car trouble, he pays toll-fares for the cars behind him on the highway, he pays for the groceries of strangers, feeds the homeless, and so much more. William, 32 years old, is an extraordinary example for young boys and girls and he often volunteers his time to mentor children and adolescents who don’t have positive role models. William volunteers as a boys’ basketball coach and takes things a step further by providing invaluable life lessons to his team members. An avid “do-it-yourselfer”, William is always helping others with home improvement repairs and fixing others’ cars. William also not only volunteers his time to repair computers and laptops, but even lends out his own personal laptops to others in need.
Although things may not be perfect in his life, you won’t hear William complain. I have watched William go through so many adversities and tragic losses over the years, but his perseverance and faith in God keeps him going no matter how bad things get. Even through his difficult times and financial hardships, William continues to give to others…after 12 years, this still doesn’t cease to amaze me!
I would love to raise $5,000 for William so that he can have his own reliable and safe transportation. His selflessness and undeniable generosity makes William a rarity and true gem in today’s world. William does so much for me and others, and this financial blessing would mean much more than you know!!! Please help me keep this cycle of love going! No amount is too small…if you can only donate $1, I would be so grateful. Thank you for taking the time to read William’s story. I truly appreciate your support. May God bless you for your kindness!
