Kate and I are building a tiny house! Well not us per say, but our cool new friends at Rewild Homes!

But what is a tiny house you may ask?  Is it a tiny castle? Is it a kind of blanket fort? No friends. It's just like your house, like the one you may be sitting in right now, but TINY! Teeny teeny tiny. You're already smiling right? Imagine Kate and Nico climbing up and down ladders and trying to make dinners in this miniature fortress. Well, it will be cozy, for sure but it's actually going to be surprisingly roomy.

Our house is being custom built and designed with our input. It's going to be a tiny little cedar cabin, on wheels! It will be 24 feet long and 8 feet wide, woah! It will be made with local materials and by a local company.

Sounds pretty cool right? Yeah, but why? Why live in a tiny house? GOOD QUESTION!

Our little home represents a lot of things to us, and in a way, to the community at large.

1. The house is very eco-friendly. The heating required is minimal. We would eventually  have all of our electric needs met by solar energy. Our toilet...well, all you need to know about that is that it's composting. We can live tiny and in doing so, leave only a tiny "footprint" behind. Cool!

2. It represents simplicity. Living tiny is a challenge, one that Kate and I are excited to take on. It means living without clutter, without "things". Only the objects we need and love get to live in our tiny house. 

3. It represents adventure and freedom! Our tiny house is going to be on wheels, so, you guessed it... we can move anytime! Cross country road trip? Why not! More realistically, with our lifestyle, it gives us more flexibility and freedom. 

4. It's an investment. While Kate and I do well as a yoga teacher/music man duo, we know that we have to live smart when it comes to finance. Thinking ahead to a time where we may have a family and even more pets (Nico's idea), and require a slightly less tiny house, Kate and I hope to use our little house as a stepping stone to something more permanent. 

5. Most importantly, this house will be a fort, and Kate and I have a special relationship with forts. We fell in love in a blanket fort I made 2 years ago. Now you can be part of building an adult fort where our love can grow for ALL TIME. Or at least until one of us kicks the bucket. :)

Ok that's all fine and dandy, but why crowd fund?

Your money will go directly towards completing our tiny house! Your donations would be used for all of the wonderful details that will make our house tick. You could take pleasure in knowing that thanks to you we can afford a nice compostable toilet, thus eliminating the terrifying trip to the “hole in the yard”. You could sleep peacefully knowing that your contribution means that Kate and I will have windows in our home, so that we don’t die horrible deaths from Vitamin D deficiency. Or even better, we can put a washer and dryer into our tiny house, so the constant stench of Kate’s sweaty hot yoga clothes can be held at bay. Wait, there’s even more, you could take great pleasure in knowing that your contribution gave us a door, that’s right, a real door. Thanks to you, WE CAN ENTER AND EXIT OUR HOUSE. You really can be a hero here.

The truth is, every detail of this house requires money. Kate and I are making sure we save our pennies, but we also want to share our passions with you in exchange for your help.

Construction on our house begins Feb 1st, and our last payment is due on March 1st. With your help, we know that we can kick that payments butt! 

Finally, gratitude. Kate and I are offering all sorts of cool incentives to make your contribution totally worthwhile. We're offering yoga lessons, music lessons, cookies, original music written for you, recordings, dinner parties and even live music performances, but with every donation, no matter how big or small, you will have our everlasting gratitude. This project would never have even gotten off the ground without profound support from our friends and family, and we are grateful every moment of every day for each and every one of you.
