Kimberly Reeves Cancer Recovery
Kimberly Ivy Reeves has been my friend since we were in Junior High School. We moved away from Virginia to different parts of the country and started different lives. During our college years, while she was at Texas A & M she fell in love, married and started a beautiful family.
She is the mom to 11 amazing kids, JC (26)married to the lovely Kerri with Theo and Daisy (sweetest babies in the world). Danielle (24)is in college. Noah (18) and Luke (17)are both high school seniors and will go to A&M fall of 2017( GO AGGIES!). Faith(15) and Hope (14)are taking dual credit high school /college classes. Joy (12) and Lily Jane (7)are doing all their schooling at home. Kiddos with special needs Rena(11), Lyric(7) and Lucy(6) are in public school and are doing great. She home schooled all of the kids until recent years and that's why they've excelled so much.
She has always loved Critters---I know this as her biology lab partner---Critters - 3 dogs and 1 cat--I believe there are some outside animals too cows and chickens, et al. As if running the household, raising the children she also decided to go back to school and to that end is in the middle of nursing school and will graduate August of 2017.
A few weeks ago after a routine mammogram that turned into some more not so routine tests it was determined that she has invasive ductal carcinoma. 3 days from now on the 15th she will undergo a double mastectomy. Her reconstruction will have to wait until the best Chemo/ Radiation protocol is determined. She met with the Oncologist today.
She spends so much of her time taking care of EVERYONE. There are many needs for a family this large and Kimberly has done it all! Years ago I got to share a meal at the house with this bunch and I was amazed watching her entertain her family and a guest who just dropped in.
Please considering donating for the needs of this family during her recovery. There will be many needs for transporation and doctor visits and every day needs to shuttle everyone all over the place . Kimberly will also likely need a nurse at the house with her initially after surgery.
People always ask someone going thru something, "please call me and tell me what I can do to help you..." Picking up the phone and asking for help is the last thing she can do. She needs to focus on healing and as her "village" we need to rally around. Donating will help ease the stress of insurance payments, food, transportation costs and whatever else unforseen may come up. Most importantly please keep Kimberly and her family in your thoughts and prayers. Positive thought and prayer going help will help her through this. There is a meal train that has been set up from this Friday until next Friday.
Kimberly you and your family are in all of our thoughts and prayers and you are going to overcome this. To the Reeves children--I've never met another person that I hold in higher regard than your mom. Just as you all are so lucky to have her as your mom her life has been blessed by each and everyone of you. You are her world!!
