The Mongol Rally - For Charity
Donation protected
Here's the thing....
There I was at a work conference talking over a few beers with my CEO and I asked him if I risked life and limb by driving an old banger of a car painted up to look like a Zebra from London, England to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia would he donate a bucket load of cash to some good causes?.....to my surprise he said yes; now the only problem is I have to do it!
So whats this Mongol Rally then?
Well, basically its a bunch of nutters who are all trying to get their old rust bucket 1 litre cars across thousands of miles of countryside, mountains, deserts, rocks and rivers, much of which doesn't have anything you could describe as a civilised road, all in the name of raising money for charity.
What Charities are you supporting?
My team will be supporting the fine work done by two charities. Check out the links below for more info, but in brief:
Cool Earth - a charity dedicated to saving the rain forests for future generations.
Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity - Providing world class pediatric care for children.
Thats right, by donating to our cause you're not only saving the world, but you're also saving lives! What more could you ask for?
So how does the plan work?
Well, thanks to the good people at Worldpay we've already been given some support to get the ball rolling. We have a guaranteed donation of £1,000 ready and waiting to be sent directly to the charities, and now we need your help to make that even more.
Your donations will go to getting my team of mad adventurers to Mongolia in a car held together by little more than luck, rust and bubble gum. Why are we travelling in such a terrible, unreliable, uncomfortable poor excuse for a motorcar i hear you ask....well firstly for the challenge, but more importantly the cheaper, rougher and readier the car the more money we can donate to charity. All money raised after the basic cost of the trip will be added to the charity pot and divided equally between these two great charities. Not only will you be saving lives and saving the world, but also helping my team have an amazing once in a life time adventure. Good Karma Guaranteed.
You can follow the team on every step of this mad as a hatter adventure on our facebook page and twitter account coming soon and watch out for us in the local papers! The Rally begins on the 19th of July.
Until then, Check out the charity links and a MASSIVE thank you for taking the time to read my ramblings and making a donation.
