Keep Channel 2 On Air! Littleton NH

Granite North Television (formerly Littleton Area Television) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to delivering hyper-local televised and streaming content to the Northern New Hampshire regions. We exist to help rural NH towns gain access to important news and information. For more than a dozen years "Channel 2" has served the Littleton region as the go-to local televised news resource. Our current broadcast signal is available in nearly 8,000 homes in the towns of Littleton, Sugar Hill, Franconia, Bethlehem, Twin Mountain, Lisbon and Monroe.
Critical operational equipment that hosts our video footage, and communicates with the microwave towers, is now in its "end-of-life" phase. If this equipment fails, the station will go dark until we can replace it. Imagine a DVD library with no DVD player. Or document and ink, with no printer. Unfortunately, though, the current system and its video server are discontinued, so we are forced with the option of replacing the entire system with its upgrade.
GNTV is seeking charitable donations to replace this aged-out equipment for the station. The upside is that the new video server we have researched will bring the station into the next generation of broadcasting. With the new equipment, the capabilities to stream live, from anywhere, becomes much easier. Just like the big guys... "On Location" reporting and coverage becomes a reality. We can bring performances from any venue, parades from any town, or sporting events from any field, right into your home with this new equipment.
The new system will afford us growth opportunities as well. The system is designed for stability and duration, so we will we have ample time to grow into it and experience its full range of options. In time we can add on a ROKU or AppleTV station to our services, enabling us to reach non-cable subscribers. Also available will be the ability to deliver on demand content through the ROKU channel or through an integrated web page. The days of "cable only" viewers will be a distant memory.
To fully deliver on this new phase of broadcasting for the station we need to raise about $45,000 in total; this is quite a bit more than our target goal. For now, our focus is on replacing the outdated components. Any additional funds we receive would go towards acquiring additional cameras, tripods, remote switching equipment and lighting to help us get closer to the full production package described above.
It's an exciting time for the station, and the North Country. We look forward to being able to deliver to all our neighbors quality, locally focused broadcasts that help our viewers stay informed, entertained, and aware of the events happening in their neighborhoods. Thank you for helping us reach our goal and meet our mission to better serve you.
