The Kabarli Retreat
Donation protected
I teach at risk Aboriginal teen students and each year we have a community goal that we fundraise towards. My students have come up with the idea of 'The Kabarli (Nana) Retreat' to give those tired nanas who have had no break between raising their own children and their grandchildren; who stay strong and nurturing amidst grief and turmoil; who always put their own needs and wants last.
We want to send 6 nans on a luxury weekend retreat complete with meals, activities and transport.
It is our hope that they can enjoy some well earned rest, fun and sisterhood.
The funds raised will cover these items along with accommodation.
If the idea is a success we will try to make it an annual event. These amazing ladies would be blown away by the kindness of the gesture and the chance to unwind.
My students, who helped identify the very deserving ladies would be also.
If we each give a little we can offer something that means the world to those who give so much.
