Kahuku Red Raiders In Training
Donation protected
The Hawaii Department of Education Superintendent has asked us as teachers and leaders to help give our students more of a voice. As teachers and Advisers we try as hard as we can to create opportunities for our students to share their concerns, their triumphs and their worries. We work hard to appreciate our diversity while at the same time learning to work together toward a common goal. This year the National Association of Secondary School Principals, National Student Council, the National Junior Honor Society and the National Honor Society are holding conferences (www.leadconferences.org ) to help students learn how to express their VOICE.
Being here in Hawaii and especially out on the north shore we would love to allow our students the opportunity to attend. Most of our student leaders come from families that live in multigenerational surroundings. Most of them have parents that work two or three jobs in order to live in Hawaii. Most of the student leaders are female. And most of all they are excited to help their school live up to its nickname as the “pride of the north shore”.
We didn’t make our original goal of going to Orlando this month so we will be working hard to take 40 students to Chicago, Illinois for the LEAD conference in March. We will be doing many fundraisers and working hard to reach our monetary goal. Your donation would help to pay for their airfare, a night in a hotel before the conference, a night after, and food.
As teachers we want to give our students the tools they need to help our school and community continue to do positive things throughout the world. Any help you can give would be amazing!! Go Big Red! Red Raiders for Life!!!
