Service Trip to Nashville
Donation protected
My name is Kala Frazier and I am Health Science major at the University of Missouri. I have created this GoFundMe because I am partaking in an amazing service program this Thanksgiving break, and I need your help. Mizzou Alternative Breaks (MAB) is an alcohol and drug free program that encourages students to spend their breaks serving others. For this week, I will be participating in meaningful volunteer service projects, working with my peers, and traveling to assist nonprofit organizations. Last year, the MAB program, including domestic and international trips over Thanksgiving, winter, spring, and summer breaks, as well as weekends in the fall and spring semesters, sent over 1700 Mizzou students on 158 trips to serve people and communities at various locations.
I am traveling to Nashville, Tennessee with 11 of my peers to participate in an Alternative Breaks trip through the MU School of Health Professions! Over Thanksgiving Break, we will be serving at a number of locations to see how poverty affects one's health status. We are very excited to serve at Project C.U.R.E., where we will be organizing medical equipment to be sent to countries in need. The next day, we will volunteer at TNKids Nutrition and bag lunches and dinners for at risk youth. We will end our week at Hospitality House of Nashville by helping create a "home away from home" for patients and families seeking medical treatment in Nashville area hospitals. I am very excited to explore my personal work ethic through this experience!
Because Mizzou Alternative Breaks is entirely student-led, our budget for the trips relies heavily on fundraising. As you might imagine, the costs of transportation to and from the site combined with costs of housing and food for the week are quite significant. The goal for each participant is to raise $700. Any contribution will make a difference not only in terms of my own participation, but also making this specific trip possible for the peers I will be serving with.
Your donation is much appreciated and will enable me to immerse in an atmosphere that I would otherwise not experience. Thank you so much for your time and generosity.
