Kalamazoo Shooting Funeral Costs

Six people in our beautiful city have been murdered in acts of senseless violence. I have no idea the kind of pain their families must be experiencing, and want to help alleviate some of the difficulty of this horrendous situation.

Funerals are extremely expensive - averaging out at about $6000, sometimes with up to $3000 in additional expenses. I rounded it out to $10,000 for each funeral. At least two of the people murdered were related, meaning that their family will have to pay for not just one funeral, but two, on top of dealing with their incredible loss and grief.

My name is RosaLee Ward, and I am a Kalamazoo native and local photographer. I live in Kalamazoo, was following along with the news the night of the shooting, and am completely heartbroken by what has happened in our town. I promise I will do whatever it takes to ensure that this money is used to help these families offset the huge cost of arranging a funeral. I am currently working with several people to be put in contact with the victim's families so that this money can go directly to them; it may even be donated to their GoFundMe pages, as several of them have started their own (unbeknownst to me at the time of creating this one). My plan is to split the funds amongst the families for them to do with as they see fit.
