Donation protected
Quick update - I'm offering 1 hr writing/pitch consultations for $50 each towards this fundraiser. Just enter your email or an alternative option for contacting in the comments when you're making your donation. I'll take it from there and I'll be in touch quickly. Thanks so much!
Update 1 - See my most recent update! This campaign now goes towards 4 separate transition related procedures!
Hi, I'm raising funds for my Genital Reassignment Surgery. My insurance company excludes all surgeries and procedures "for the purposes of changing sex" and so, I have to pay for GRS out of my own pocket.
Hormones have alleviated most of the gender dysphoria that I previously experienced, however the single biggest source remains, my genitals. Currently I shower with my eyes closed and I get dressed before returning to the bathroom mirror. Even then, I'm still reminded of my incorrect genitals when I pull on a pair of underwear or I can't quite smooth out the front of my skirt.
There are other, more intimate issues presented by my current genital alignment that I won't go into here, but this procedure is of immediate concern for me.
Here's a breakdown of how the funds will be distributed:
$15,000 for the surgery and hospital stay
$500 for travel and accommodations
$3000 to replace the lost income during my recovery period
$4500 for taxes and fees related to fundraising
This amounts to $23,000. I know it's a lot of money and I hesitate to even ask. The truth is that I desperately need this surgery and so I've decided to ask for your help. Anything that you might be able to spare would be greatly appreciated and of course any shares on your social media accounts would also be tremendously helpful.
Thank you all,
-Katelyn
