SLC Reptile Fire Victims

A few days ago in the Salt Lake City Valley, a fellow reptile lover and rescuer lost his entire house to a massive fire. Rescuers were able to pull out 10 snakes, 4 lizards, 3 ferrets, a rabbit, and 2 dogs out of the burning house. Sadly, 2 cats and 2 snakes died in the fire. A third snake was put down later that day due to significant burns. 

The remaining reptiles are now in a good situation and temporary tanks. They have a variety of injuries from face & body burns to smoke inhalation to sickness that they had before they were rescued. Exotic vets at Parrish Creek vet clinic in Centerville, Utah are already being consulted and vet visits start Monday. The most critical of the reptiles have already received emergency medical care by way of saline injections and Critical Care tube feedings. 

The setups and supplies for these reptiles were all lost in the fire along with all of the owners possessions. All of the reptiles will need permanent enclosures that are adequate for their sizes (currently the 12 foot long Burmese pythons are in 55 gallon sick tanks). They will need medical care and other supplies to get them healthy again. 

Because the reptile community in Salt Lake is so amazing, we are asking for donations to help us get these reptiles in a good place again (tanks & health, etc). All vet visits will be at Parrish Creek vets and receipts showing purchases for supplies will be kept. We do not ask for money lightly and intend to spend all of the donations for supplies for the reptiles. We will offer proof of this care to anyone who would like to see it. We will work in cooperation with WRIKS (Wasatch Reptile & Invertebrate Keepers Society) and will post frequent updates here and on that Facebook page.
