Keep Archi's Acres Alive
Donation protected
Archi’s Acres, founded in 2006 by Karen and Colin Archipley, is a highly-respected small hydro-organic farm; a veterans’ training center for sustainable agriculture with 450 graduates, to date; and a California Benefit Corporation based in Northern San Diego County. The farm is now facing a desperate situation. If nothing is done, the farm will close, its programs ended, and there will be an empty place in our hearts. Your urgent action and donation is needed today. It will make an immediate impact and keep the people we love doing the great things they do for so many members of our community.
We need to raise $100,000 to help Karen and Colin make their loan payments and have enough money for supplies and salaries to keep providing the best organic basil and other produce to their customers. Your donation will keep the hope alive in all the students from our active armed services and veterans whose lives have been transformed by the Archipleys' efforts.
Presently, they need to pay vendors for propane, fertilizer, utilities, and building costs. There is no money to pay the staff who volunteered today to work without pay in support of Colin and Karen.
This situation arose because the Archipleys had been promised a big contract with a very large company to sell them basil and other produce. In anticipation of this, Colin and Karen took out a large loan to pay for the construction of a needed greenhouse. The greenhouse was completed, but this company backed out of their commitment and left Colin and Karen with a massive debt and no added income to support paying the loan. It is punishing, crushing debt.
Colin and Karen have touched all of us and made our lives better through their advocacy and support of organic farms. Karen’s infectious smile and good energy and her deep commitment to the organic movement have made so many wonderful things happen for farmers. Colin’s three tours in Iraq, followed by his determination and outreach to fellow veterans, is an inspiring story, and his unending energy is seen in the newly-released film, “The Farm.” Please look at this link and reflect on what is possible from truly good people- www.archisacres.com/the-farm-movie-event/
Organic sustainability is the essence Archi’s Acres. And we need to help sustain their efforts by demonstrating our organic love and support for them in their hour of need. All over this state, they are known as innovators and leaders in education and leaders in the organic movement. Your donation will help to keep them operating and supply the needed bridge so that they can increase their customer base and put the farm on the road to recovery. Any amount you can give TODAY will help.
It’s now time for us to do our job and rally around Karen, Colin and Archi’s Acres. Please join us and know that every dollar matters. All of the money raised will go directly to Archi’s Acres.
Thank you so much for your kind support!
