Keep Classic Painted Fantasy Art Alive

Donation protected
Hello, this is Daniel Horne and I've been painting fantasy artwork for nearly 40 years within the publishing industry.  Over that period I've been humbled to have the opportunity to grace the covers of Dragon Magazine, Dungeon, Spectrum Fantasy, and novels from authors including Margaret Weis, Don Perrin, J.R.R. Tolkien, Raymond Feist, David Eddings, Mercedes Lackey, Lynn Abbey, Piers Anthony, Robert Lynn Asprin, L. Frank Baum, Edgar Rice Burrows, Gary Gygax, Tracy Hickman, Robert E. Howard, Kathrine Kurtz, and Douglas Niles to name a few, but as the world changes, so too do the mediums and tastes of the industry as a whole.

Although I know that my skills as a classically trained and apprenticed Brandywine School artist are sharper than they have ever been, I've found that there is always a struggle to engage new covers for the fantasy genre..  It is my hope that with the support of the fans of fantasy art that I've built up over the past four decades, I can have the opportunity to paint a piece, or even pieces, of art that will open new doors to various publishing houses.  But as I live in a world of deadlines in our of genre markets, like most artists, having the time and piece of mind to take on an inspirational cover isn't something I'm allowed.  I can only have a shot at making beautiful fantasy art within this diverse and incredible market with the help of art lovers, gamers, and fantasy readers and enthusiasts who remember my contributions to their past.  It is my hope that with their support, a new future can be written in which I can again inspire a new generation with what I have to offer.

Currently, I'd like to use the funds gained here to provide me ample studio time to create fantasy art that expresses my passion and has flexibility like the old art directors gave me in the 1980s.  These funds will help keep the paint and creativity flowing as I work without the worries that often come with chasing a out of market deadline.

Whenever these funds make it to me, I'll be able to begin this process, and hope to take you all along the journey from my sketch pads to the roughs, to the actual paint on canvas.  Together, let's create something incredible that helps capture the true meaning of the word fantasy and show the world that traditional painting isn't yet dead and buried.

I've had the absolute pleasure to read so many kind words from fans over the years concerning my contributions to the genre of fantasy art, and it would absolutely mean the world to me to have the opportunity to once again show what I'm capable of because of the support of my fans.  You mean everything to me, and are the reason I do what I do!
