Kerala Flood Disaster Relief
Namaste!
Our friends and their communities in Kerala, India need your help now. This tiny state is in the midst of an unprecedented flood havoc. The calamity has caused immeasurable misery and devastation. Many lives have been lost.
Hundreds of homes were totally destroyed and many more were damaged. Never before had the State witnessed a calamity of this scale.
Kerala’s chief minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, said in a statement that more than 200,000 people had now been displaced by torrential rain that began nine days ago.
“Kerala is facing its worst flood in 100 years,” he said on Twitter on Friday (Aug 17th): “80 dams opened, 324 lives lost and 223,139 people are in [more than] 1,500 relief camps.”
We are a group of people with family and friends in different parts of Kerala. We currently live in the San Francisco Bay Area and are part of the Kerala group called SanGaMa. We have been organizing community events for the last several years. The details of such events can be seen at our website SanGaMa
CNN reports on the "worst flooding in almost a century in India's southern tourist state of Kerala..."
“In our village, everyone’s houses were destroyed” – says Velayudhan, Flood Survivor.

As of this writing, landslides are happening everyday and many places are cut off. The tourist paradise of Munnar is cut off, so is Sabarimala temple, and even the state capital, Trivandrum, is getting inundated. But as usual, the most affected are the poorest of the poor.
Our immediate goal is to donate all the funds to Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund. If we receive more than what we initially target, we will distribute the same to other non-profit organizations doing relief work in Kerala.
We will be transferring the funds to Kerala Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund. See link below.
If you would rather donate directly, please feel free to use the link below:

Even a small amount goes a long way, so please help with whatever donations you can.
We remain much obliged to your kindness. God Bless!
