Our Need:
KHCC picks up K-5 children daily from school to bring them to KHCC safely for afterschool homework, STEM programming, arts, physical fitness and a homecooked dinner. Our vans also play an important role in our Special Needs Program: participants have sensory challenges which makes public transportation nearly impossible for them as they cope with overstimulation from people, noises and smells. KHCC vans transport them home safely - throughout the Bronx - where traffic forces evening trips to take between 1-2 hours. Our vans are also used for college trips! Our college-bound teens travel throughout the East Coast to explore college campuses so they can make the best choice for school after graduation. We need updated, relable vans urgently!
Our Challenge:
We currently face a challenge for the continued operation for our vehicles in use. Two of our vans recently had significant repairs required. Without vehicles that run properly, we are forced to compromise integral aspects of our programming. In order to keep our programs performing at their current high level, while neither sacrificing safety or incurring extraordinary expenses, KHCC must replace at least one 15-passenger van immediately. We are working on a long-term plan to replace an additional 15-passenger van as well as a mini-van.
How You Can Help:
Join our “KHCC Van Campaign” TODAY and help us raise funds to support our participants! Without safe, affordable transportation, these programs will be severely impacted, affecting thousands of lives. Your donation will change lives from our special needs participants to our first generation college-bound youth.
Thank you caring about Bronx families!
Our Mission:
KHCC provides resources to empower Bronx residents from cradle to career to advance education and well-being for a vibrant community. We achieve this in an environment that fosters academic milestones, literacy, mental health support, nutrition, technology, and the arts.
