Sep 2018: Ciara is continuing her fight against cancer. Unfortunately, the Cancer has now spread to a number of different areas, including her hip, her shoulder blade, her collarbone, her lung and her arm. Ciara is continuing with her current course of chemotherapy and has just completed two more rounds of radiation to target this spread. With a cancer so aggressive and so rare and spreading so quickly, Ciara is considering every treatment option available, with many of these being abroad.
With the money raised so far, Ciara is travelling to Aberdeen in October to begin Mistletoe Therapy , she is hoping this will greatly reduce her pain and increase her general well-being so that she is strong enough to continue with her ongoing treatment.
Ciara has also consulted with a specialist cancer hospital in Texas that specialises in Urachal Cancer. This is the only hospital in the world with a specialist in Urachal Cancer. Ciara is aiming to travel to Texas in November for step 1 of the treatment process. This initial consultation costs approximately 15,000 Dollars with treatment costs following that estimated to run into the 100's of thousands. Ciara is determined to make it to Texas and keep fighting for herself and her children.
The generosity of people so far has been incredible and overwhelming. It is so important now that we keep this spirit of community, care and kindness going and raise the vital funds to send Ciara abroad so that her case is reviewed and treated expertly.

Six months ago all of our worlds were turned upside down. My beautiful sister Ciara was diagnosed with an extremely rare type of cancer called Urachal Adenocarcinoma. The Urachus makes up your umbilical cord as a baby and stems from behind the belly button down to the bladder, for most people this dissipates into nothing and causes no concern, however for a very rare few - one in 1 million people, it develops into a rare and aggressive cancer. There have only ever been two cases diagnosed in Ireland to date and there have only been 400 cases diagnosed in the entire United States in the last 25 years. We always knew that Ciara was one in a million but never in our wildest dreams did we think she would be fighting this battle. The road to her diagnosis has not been straight forward, there have been endless tests, major surgeries, secondary cancer/tumours, long and repeated stays in hospital, intensive radiation and an aggressive chemotherapy programme. Ciara has been bravely documenting her experience, diagnosis and treatment plan in her blog #nofilter. If you are interested in reading this and following her journey, please click here:
As well as following doctor's orders, Ciara has been researching the benefits of alternative and holistic treatments and therapies that compliment her medical treatment plan. She is discovering the benefits of Kangan water, wheatgrass, creating an alkaline ph level within her body and CBD. Ciara is finding these therapies and treatments helpful, giving her energy, helping her fight infection and helping to create an environment in her body within which cancer cannot survive. Ciara really believes in these approaches and wishes to continue to nourish herself in these ways. She is also researching the benefits of a raw food diet and hopes to take a course with one of the world's leading experts in the area of raw food nutrition and in the relationship between the body and food.
Me, my family and Ciara's friends are all supporting her through this biggest fight of her life. If she could fund all of the above on the love she receives, she would have a never-ending supply of treatment, however, this fight is costing money and it is for this reason that I have set up this page. This diagnosis and treatment plan have been all consuming for Ciara and for our family but Ciara is so much more than cancer so I would love to introduce you to the beautiful person behind the diagnosis...
Today, the 19th of June, is Ciara's 34th birthday. She is a mum to two beautiful, bright young boys - Dean (14), Bobby (6). Ciara is a single mum. She has a great relationship with the boy's father and they all still enjoy family time together, something that is very important to Ciara. Ciara is full of life and fun. She is always the life and soul of any occasion, her dirty sense of humour and her love of 'Dad' jokes keeps us endlessly entertained. She is a make-up artist and is super talented. She loves make-up, fashion, friends and family. Ciara is someone who leaves an impression on those she meets. She loves with all of her heart and she is loved dearly in return. She is so beautiful on the inside and on the outside.
With any funds that are generously donated, Ciara intends to continue to fund the alternative therapies that she has invested in so far. Some funds will also contribute to daily living expenses as Ciara is unable to work at the moment as she undergoes her current medical treatment plan of aggressive chemotherapy. Through her blog, Ciara will continue to provide updates on her journey so far and to document and outline how and where any donated funds are spent.
