Killer Black Short Film

Donation protected

Reclusive Pulitzer-prize winning author R.K. Sherwood, who hasn't been seen in public for years, settles in for another day at home, when a knock at the door leads to a path no one would ever have imagined...

If you’re reading this, then it’s most likely because someone has asked you for your help with the project, so first of all thank you.

This isn’t just another short film.  This is the moment when those of us involved step up to the plate.  This is our WHIPLASH, where we apply everything we’ve learned over the years and make something truly outstanding.

I wrote KILLER BLACK because I wanted to get excited about movies again.  To make something that exciting, unpredictable and surprising.  Something that was by turns funny, dark and fun, and lived up to, learned from and gave a whole new twist on the movies that made so many of us go into this crazy game in the first place, from PULP FICTION to BOOGIE NIGHTS.

Panavision has accepted us into their exclusive and prestigious New Filmmaker Program, so will be donating cameras and lenses.  However, we need $35,000 to make this film happen.  To date, we've raised $27,000.  Please help us over this final hurdle.

We’ve got an amazing cast:

- Coen Bros veteran FRED MELAMED (A SERIOUS MAN, HAIL CAESAR, IN A WORLD).

- WILL BRITTAIN (Sundance hit, Hannah Fidell’s A TEACHER, Richard Linklater’s EVERYBODY WANTS SOME!!, Warner Bros 2017 blockbuster KONG: SKULL ISLAND)

Crew:

- Producer Daniel Angeles:  Previously of the Weinstein Company, now at HBO.
- Producer Blake Greenbaum:  Previously of music video house, Prettybird, and before that began his career on THE WIRE and working for Steven Spielberg on TIN TIN.
- Producer Evan Miller:  A graduate of UT, Austin's prestigious film program, Evan previously executive produced director James Berry's first short, SEE YOU LATER.

- Award-winning composer, Patrick Kirst (previously worked on the BBC's PLANET EARTH, SEX AND THE CITY, MR. MAGORIUM’S WONDER EMPORIUM).
- Director of Photography, Ben Mullen, whose work has been featured in Vice, Pitchfork and The Fader, as well as played at a host of festivals including the Cannes Film Festival and AFI Fest.
- Production Designer, Rachel Lee Darrow, has worked on projects featuring Zachary Quinto, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Anna Gunn, and her work on SASSY PANTS specifically praised by THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

This is a film that is going to be fun and fun to be a part of.  A film that'll thrill you, keep you on the edge of your seat, and help launch a new generation of filmmakers.

Join us on this journey.  It’s going to be one hell of a ride.
