Kim Hanlon's Punta Cana Emergency

Donation protected

Hello Dear Hanlon Family, Friends and loved ones,

As you may have already heard our Kimmy is in badly need of our prayers at this time.

As I write this today Sunday, April 9th at 5:00 p.m they are getting ready to air lift her from the hospital where she had been at for the last 3 days in Punta Cana to Miami to receive proper care in the United States.

The day before their vacation was ending she was taken by ambulance to the Hospital severely ill with extreme dehydration. At the ER she was treated for her vomiting and given fluids and then moved from the ER to a room.

When she told me that last Friday I thought, good, you are in good care now, they will give you some short of antibiotic and fluids and you will be on your way home.

It wasn't until I got the call early Saturday morning that I knew something was really wrong. If anyone knows Kim, you know she has an incredible tolerance for pain and she is built to endure anything without ever complaining and being a true force to reckon with. Hearing her hysterically cry on the phone was something I had never experience before nor do I ever want to hear again.

She was in so much pain while at the same time completely terrified.

Kim: I am so scared Susana, I am in a room all alone at the end of a long corridor, I can't hear any other patients, nor have I seen a nurse or a doctor in hours. They never took my vitals or did a check up when I came in, I am still wearing the same soiled clothes I was wearing when taken in by ambulance, I can't move I am in so much pain and there is nobody to even help me make it to the bathroom. I can't speak their language or understand what they say to me, they have no translator, I am using my phone to try and communicate. It's been 24 hours, I am all alone, I am scared.

Susana: Kimmy, listen to me, you need to pull any energy you have left together and walk down that hall and find a doctor right now, you need medicine asap honey.

Kim: I can't, I cannot move my body.

Susana: ok, I am going to stay with you on the phone and as soon as a doctor walks in please put them on the phone with me so I can speak to them in Spanish.

A few hours later a doctor came in and I got to find out he was the gastrointestinal doctor that saw her at the ER and treated her for the vomiting. I asked why after 24 hrs in a room she had not been taken her vitals, given a gown to wear or had anyone come and check on her. I told him she needed to be seen my a respiratory specialist and needed xrays asap.

Hours went by before she was taken to take xrays and new treatment was given. She was prescribed meds we later found out were not exactly the best for someone allergic to penicillin.

In the meantime her poor husband was moving the kids from the hotel their vacation was ending at and finding a new one as their current hotel wanted to charge almost $500 per person per night even tho their were told the situation, shame on you Nickelodeon resort, bad move!

After relocating their poor kids to new rooms somewhere else, they took a taxi to the Hospital and after Mike had a "talk" with the doctors they took her of those meds and started her on a Zpack.

Kim finally went to sleep around 3:40 p.m on Saturday.

Mike had to make the hardest decision ever, he was going to put his 6 yr old Sammy and 11 yr Sydney on a plane by themselves to the USA first thing on Sunday so he could stay 24/7 next to his wife at the hospital. As a mother of two girls myself I CANNOT even imagine not only how hard this decision was for him but how incredibly hard and traumatic this must have been for this poor kiddos.

After he took them to the airport at which he was not even allowed to walk them to the gate even tho they were both in tears, he rushed to the hospital.

Sunday 12:59 pm

Mike: (text to me)
I'm done! I'm med flighting her outta here. 20K but I don't care. I'll have her in The States by probably 9-10 p.m
