I'm a veteran of the US Air Force, trying to get my life back on track. Since my honorable discharge from the military, I've been attending Rochester Institute of Technology as a Computing Security major. Overall things were going well, with the Post-9/11 G.I. Bill covering most of my needs and some small college loans to pick up the slack, but a car accident near the end of my second year threw it all out of whack.
My grades fell as I wasn't able to get to class reliably, and fines and fees for the accident made things worse, with money ending up way too tight. I didn't handle that money stress well, and that's on me. The end result is an academic suspension at the end of my third year.
I've been looking for work since, with little success. What few leads I've had have gone nowhere, and now my lease has ended and I've nowhere to go.
I'm working with the VA, but there's not much they can do without active income. I've since applied to Monroe Community College and have been accepted.
What I need now is to figure out the next couple months while I wait for classes to start and my veteran's benefits to start up again. Literally anything would be of help.
What I'm hoping for right now is just enough to pay to send my transcripts to MCC to meet all their requirements to start, enough to turn my phone back on, and enough to pay the (now overdue) rent on my storage unit so that I don't lose all of my possessions but what my last roommate was able to keep at his apartment. Anything else would be towards things like food that's not ramen or rice.
Anything donated will go toward keeping me from going under while waiting for the semester and my benefits to start.
I'm just trying to keep things going. I want to work for my keep, it's why I went back to school. Any help that someone feels they wish to offer would be amazing. I wouldn't offer just my thanks alone, though; if there's something I can do or provide with my skills, let me know; I'm all for earning my way.
