Two days before Christmas 2015 dad was admitted into Palomar hospital. After many tests they found dad had a heart attack. Two days later he had a second one which damaged his heart severly. They transfered him to UCSD La Jolla on Christmas Eve. After several tests they found the best option was to implant an LVAD. This procedure involved open heart surgery to implant a pump that would pump the left side of his heart for him. Shortly after the doctors had to go back in for a second open heart surgery to implant a temporary RVAD, which would pump the right side of his heart. They tried to take dad off the RVAD but his heart was too weak so, they had to take him back in to have his third open heart surgery to implant a permanent RVAD. Dad recovered from his surgeries and was moved out of ICU. I n January dad was put on the heart transplant list. On February 21st my dad received his new heart. ❤ We send our prayers to the hero's family. This hero not only helped dad but he helped 13 other people. Dad began his recovery from his heart transplant. He was determined to walk as far as he could around the floor to build up his strength and stamina. At the end of March dad was sent home. Dad has had a few set backs and has been back to the hospital a few times. His body is accepting the heart and he is getting stronger everyday.
As many of you know my mom is in need of knee surgery. She was scheduled for surgery before everything happened with my dad but, she put that on the back burner. She has met with the doctor recently to go forward with the surgery and she will get the surgery at the end of the year.
Medical bills are starting to come in the mail on top of their regular house bills. My sister and I are asking for anyone who can help with whatever you can. My mom and dad have not been working for 8 months. My mom is my dad'said care taker.
