Kristy's Lifesaving Surgery

Always one to cheer everyone up and help anyone in need, Kristy now finds herself in need of help.
Shortly after Thanksgiving, Kristy noticed signs that her body was in trouble. She became jaundice and had sores appearing on her skin. She went to an Urgent Care and was sent for some tests. After numerous tests, an MRI and a biopsy, it was determined that a mass found in her bile duct was cancer.
Kristy needed surgery right away as her body was becoming septic and this appeared to be a rapid growing cancer. An excellent surgeon and surgical team performed a difficult Whipple Procedure on Kristy on Wednesday, December 13th. They were able to remove the mass and all of the cancer… it had not spread. However, her pancreas is badly infected (pancreatitis), the worst the surgeon has ever seen, and so Kristy will be on a feeding tube until her pancreas heals, which could be months. She is in the hospital another two weeks and then will be going to a Skilled Nursing Center to stay until she is stable and able to go home. She is in an incredible amount of pain and the surgeon says that the pain will get 100 times worse as they introduce food back into her system with the feeding tube. Despite all of this, Kristy's fighting spirit is strong and she is determined to get better and hold her adorable grandson again.
Unfortunately, Kristy has NO medical insurance coverage. She paid out of pocket for the testing, MRI and biopsy prior to the diagnosis, which cleaned out her entire savings. Aware that she didn’t have insurance, the surgeon still performed the surgery because of Kristy’s life threatening situation.
Due to the enormous cost of the surgery and hospital stay, Kristy is in need of tremendous financial help. We are starting this Go Fund Me page to help defray the incredible costs she is facing.
