We didn’t know much about Charlie the day we adopted him other than he loved to play fetch and he’d only been on two walks in his entire life. Once meeting Charlie we knew that he deserved much much more. We committed to show him the world he had been missing out on. When we first got him he didn’t know how to ride in the car let alone climb up a mountain but after three years and a move across the country he accompanies us on each and every one of our adventures, mountain biking, hiking, and even kayaking.
We were out on one of our adventures hiking around an off leash area when a deer darted across the road in front of us, naturally being the curious dog that he is Charlie went to check it out. He didn’t get very far before I called him back. When returning from the adrenaline punched chase he fell approximately 10 feet off the shoulder of the road into a ditch suffering a traumatic wrist dislocation. Because of the sheer size of him I was unable to carry him and we had to struggle to hike another 1.5 miles back to the car and to emergency care.
After rushing him to the ER, xrays and countless calls to multiple different specialists, it appears Charlie will need constructive surgery with possible bone graphs to repair his wrist. This surgery is estimated to cost 4-8 thousand dollars. (The cost of my college tuition:,) ) Please help me keep my adventure buddy by my side and consider donating.
