Le Boucle Des Roses represents a stride forward for Oregon cycling. Each year members of OBRA watch the race calendar dwindle due to prohibitive overhead costs on official races.
Learning from the succeses of Oregon gran fondo's and single day mass start events like the Ronde and La Doyenne, Le Boucle Des Roses combines competitive, for fee races with mass start gran fondo events. This means a 'ride at your own risk' race.
The benefits of this style of race cut out the prohibitive overhead of closing down local roads, paying for police supervision and other fees that accumulate (dopers welcome ;). This means your race entry fee goes more directly to winner payouts and decreases up front entry costs (when was the last time you've heard of a stage race offered for less than $25?).
